All sins can be forgiven except one

This particular bible verse caught my eye today and I thought of sharing:

"So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven--except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven."

Matthew 12:31,  Mark 3:28-29, Luke 12:10

So what is actually blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? In Catholic teaching there are six sins that blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. They are:

  1. Despair (believing that one's evil is beyond God's forgiveness);
  2. Presumption (glory without merit, that is, hope of salvation without keeping the Commandments, or expectation of pardon for sin without repentance)
  3. Envying the goodness of another (sadness or repining at another's growth in virtue and perfection);
  4. Obstinacy in sin (willful persisting in wickedness, and running on from sin to sin, after sufficient instructions and admonition);
  5. Final impenitence (to die without either confession or contrition for our sins);
  6. Impugning the known truth (to argue against known points of faith, and this includes misrepresenting parts or all of the Christian faith to make it seem undesirable)

Going through the list, it sounds like those sins a person does not have any insight they are committing.

Get well soon!!!

The following prayers are dedicated to our CHOICEES and their loved ones who are currently sick and are in need of help.

Choice Chicken Soup - Yum2!

Greetings to all Choicees. I just wanted to share a story I have recently heard...

A protestant pastor was talking to a catholic priest one day and he was very curious about the Eucharist. The pastor who was a very devout man of God asked the Catholic priest if he really believed the teachings of the catholic church that the Host was the real body and blood of Christ and not just a symbol. The priest was puzzled at this question and inquired further...

The pastor then said that, if he were the one who believed in the real presence, by now he would be crawling up the aisle to receive GOD.

I feel that sometimes the way we conduct ourselves in mass, like being indifferent, distracted and failing to show our reverence, it is as if we don't truly believe that God is really present in the Eucharist. I am equally guilty of denying God like Peter did 3 times before the rooster crowed. Everything becomes just like a lip service.

We need to prepare ourselves thoroughly, body, mind and spirit before receiving Him or meeting Him in the Blessed Sacrament. We must acknowledge and confess our own sins and wash our linen clean before inviting Him in. That is why non-Catholics or Catholics alike who do not believe in God or his presence in the Eucharist cannot receive Holy Communion.

In a recent homily, the priest also explained why in a row of Catholics going up to receive Holy Communion, the level of graces for each of them is not the same. Some get lesser or more than the others. It depends on the condition of your heart at the time. The secret is to adopt the DHL graces delivery service: D - Detachment, H - Humility, L - Love.

I think like in the parable of the sower, my current condition is like seeds falling among the thorns,  getting choked and are struggling to mature. Kudos to those who already have good soil. But for those who are like me, let us strive for DHL and spend more time with God.

Getting to know our 101choicee #2

We take this opportunity to acquaint ourselves with CEKL 101 members by inviting them to share about their life's passions, God and St. Peter’s dog πŸ˜œπŸ˜œπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸΆπŸΆ

1) what is choice to you?
Choice to me is about exercising the free will that we have been gifted with. And at CHOICE, you will be making them.

2)  Share your experience or one moment you like being away from kl.
Just the idea of being somewhere new is interesting to me.

3) If St. Peter had a pet dog, what would its name be?
Dog

4) What would you  say to the single adults who are interested to join CHOICE
As the program is tailored to young single *adults*, you will be expected to have lived a little and to approach the programme with maturity. But as the name of the programme says, Make the Choice. And expect to gain from it.

Choice 101 Bak Ku Teh Session

My journey before Choice was scary because my first thoughts were that this camp was preparing me to be a nun, lol.

It started like this: when I arrived, I was welcomed by wonderful and cheerful faces that made me feel very welcomed. On the first day, I got to meet many new faces. I felt no regrets meeting everyone and it was amazing, as we journey together for this 3 days.

I felt so happy, blessed and excited of what's going to happen next. I got to experience the presence of the Lord during this journey. I took this three days to actually find out things that I was yearning to know. The talks made me reflect in every area of my life. As the last day ended it was sad to say goodbye to all my new friends I got to meet.

Selfie Bak ku Teh Session

After choice 101, I was so thrilled we had a Whatsapp group to reconnect us again woo-hoo!! I later got to meet my fellow participants and other choicees. We organized a night out for fellowship with a Bak Ku Teh session and it was amazing, and not forgetting dessert, we had my favorite ice cream and waffles. The interaction we had was amazing. We clicked right away.
Desert time

Just us having a great time for dessert

Sharing this time with people who share the same faith was great and the friendship that was built is wonderful. I am truly glad I went for Choice. If I could turn the clock back I would still want to join Choice again. It was the best choice I made... no regrets.

Reaching out to Holy Family Chapel, Genting for CE101

My first experience reaching out to the Genting community.

It was a smooth journey traveling up to Genting Highlands. We started from PJ, headed to Silent Ray's place for tea and from there met Steven and finally journeyed to Genting. We attended mass at Holy Family chapel. It was also my first visit there. Fr. August Li was very accommodating and believe it or not he was also a previous participant of the choice weekend. We were delighted to have met our old Choice family as well as being given the opportunity to reach out to the single adults of Genting.

Choice 101 service team formation + testimonies

As we prepare ourselves to reach out to Gambang, Pahang on the 13th-15th April, Father Gregory held a mini formation retreat for us.

We started off with praise and worship followed by a prayer for C101. Big Ray introduced to us what choice is all about and how large we actually are as a community. Choice is not an isolated KL group but actually involves many states and languages and even countries like Choice Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and recently formed Choice groups of Korea and Sri Lanka. We also have Choice National and Choice Asia meet every few years to discuss the direction and challenges faces in CHOICE.

Next was Father Gregory Chan’s formation. He started off with Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man was only thinking of himself until death and failed to reach out to others. Only in hell was he thinking of his brothers and he wanted to warn them to change their attitude lest they fall into the same trap. However,  it was already too late. Therefore, Father Gregory implored us to reach out and to build bridges with others, especially the 4'L's: the least, lost, lame and lonely and to bring Christ's love to them. Failure to build bridges would lead to an "inseparable gulf" like the rich and poor man.

Sharing my personal experience, I noticed, after C100, my journey with Christ was never alone. I thank the Choice team for reaching out to me.

Later, he also spoke about the Samaritan woman at the well who actually thought of Jesus as a prospect, a love interest. Jesus was actually revealing himself as 'Lord'  and not 'husband', in hebrew, Ba'al and not ba'al. The subtle change in capital and small 'b' made all the difference. She only realized, it was Him, her Lord and Master when he said the words 'I am'  just like the story of Moses and the burning bush. Then she put her water jar down which represents her past baggage and went around the whole village spreading the good news. She was thirsty for God in her life and yearned for the living water and when she received it, she became Christ's missionary bringing others to Jesus and just like Choice, she wanted to share the joy she had received.

These were some of the testimonies from our formation attendees. What touched them the most?

"What touched me was the Samaritan woman... God used her desires to make Himself known to her as the I Am. When she knew who He was, she put down her baggage’s and went to bring others to get to know Jesus.  It was apt for me as the search to fulfill the desires of my heart is etched in knowing Christ more and inturn knowing myself more. Ultimately to pass it onto others"

Father Greg asked 'what is the magic that happens at the choice weekend?'. I've been struck every weekend by the 'miracles' that happen every time. I know it's the Holy Spirit that takes over and to be 'used' by him in any small way is a privilege. To be a bridge
Petrina

A Lifeline to a Life Bridge:
I learnt that the Secret ingredient to reaching out to someone is to be a bridge, not a wall.
And in order to extend a bridge, the secret recipe is not cement, Jesus, It’s because of the brokenness & Rejection in life, all can find comfort and solace in God.

- I’m part of a CHOICE family that has an international appeal which has and continues to impact so many lives * gasp  Clarity of role structures to ensure all runs smoothly was insightful as I never knew so much Governance was involved (not your typical tidak apa NGO organisational structure) - we’re accountable. Lady by the well misunderstood Jesus’ intention as her own intentions were impure and manipulative. May my words and actions not be masked for the sake of having things my way ; even when my way was not impure. Move away from that thinking, “Why cannot do that (impure act)?”
