Abba! Father!

When we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. - Romans 8:15-17

St Paul is making clear to us that we are children of God, just as Christ was God's son. Because of Christ with can call God "Abba", which is like saying "papa". Christ, through his death and resurrection, made it possible for each of us to have an intimate relationship with God and to inherit all that Jesus inherited.

How is your faith enriched by knowing that you can call God Abba or Papa? What does it say to you about Christ's love and his desire to be your brother?

Let us pray
Abba, papa, Jesus taught us that we are your children and that you desire a close and intimate relationship with us. Help us to remember this when we approach you. Amen
